A healthy endowment is critical to long-term financial sustainability. It supports financial aid, ensuring that we can recruit and retain students of all socioeconomic backgrounds. It helps support increases in faculty compensation, which is essential in a high-cost local market and at a time when we face a nationwide shortage of teachers. It ensures that we can continue to fund student programs at a high level and invest in faculty development experiences.
To better support all the School’s programs, particularly those for families for whom the cost of a Sidwell experience is prohibitive, the School has made increasing the size of the Sidwell Friends endowment a priority for the campaign overall, including this culminating phase.
Sidwell Friends School’s endowment is now at a record high value thanks to the generosity of our community and effective investment management.
